Clearstory CEO Cameron Page recently stopped by as a featured guest on Built by Builders, the popular podcast highlighting construction professionals who have created new technologies to solve critical issues pressing the industry. Cameron joined Built by Builders host and ConCnrtic Founder and CEO Steve Dell’Orto for an engaging conversation about the benefits of using a Change Order Communication Tool to bridge the Change Order Gap in construction and reduce risk for all stakeholders:

  • Specialty Contractors: From planned changes to changes that are unforeseen, Change Orders can represent a sizable chunk of Specialty Contractor top-line revenue. Steve and Cameron discussed how Clearstory provides Subcontractors with tools to surface and process Change Orders faster for improved cash flow and more effective communication with General Contractors.
  • General Contractors: Steve and Cameron talked about how Cameron’s background as a senior project manager for an ENR Top 50 General Contractor led to the genesis of Clearstory as a solution for reducing risk. By capturing Change Order risk exposure in real-time, Clearstory provides a tool for reflecting Change Order data accurately in traditional Change Order management and project financial systems of record faster.

  • Owners: With a focus on streamlining preconstruction, ConCntric was designed to speed decision making and add value to projects as they unfold. Steve and Cameron discussed how Clearstory similarly benefits owners by improving forecasting accuracy to make value-driven decisions across the project lifecycle.

Closing the Communication Divide Created by The Change Order Gap

Even as the construction industry begins to embrace new technologies, Steve and Cameron recognized that many systems and processes remain isolated and disconnected in ways that force continued reliance on manual workflows.

As it relates to Clearstory, the Change Order Gap is an example of this kind of communication divide: all of the individual systems of record that are private and don’t provide the tools for stakeholders to align on outstanding Change Order risk.

To bridge the Change Order Gap between internally focused traditional systems, Clearstory was designed as a tool for externally focused communication, collaboration, and real-time data sharing to foster trust and transparency among stakeholders.

A Vision for a Tech-Forward Future for Construction

Finally, Cameron and Steve discussed why construction has been slower than other industries to leverage software, and looked at how adopting best-in-class point solutions is a dependable strategy for companies attempting to differentiate themselves with their tech stack. The more the industry can eliminate email-heavy and manual workflows, the more we can begin to create and harvest incredibly valuable data for process and project improvement.
