We sat down with Jason Catalano, President of Catalano Construction, to hear how Change Orders were affecting his business and why he switched to Clearstory. Read below to learn more!
For 30 years, Catalano Construction has constructed the groundwork for buildings, parks, and other facilities that shape people’s lives. They have grown from a humble home office to one of the most trusted and respected excavation companies in the industry.
A Sudden Need for Change
Catalano Construction is a family-owned business, previously run by Jason's father. When he passed away suddenly, Jason became responsible for Change Orders overnight. He couldn't believe the inefficiency of their previous process, and he could never be sure how outstanding Change Orders were affecting his cash flow. He regularly spent weekends in the office catching up on Change Order administration. After finding a stack of unsubmitted T&M Tags long after a project had been closed out, he decided it was the last straw.
"I needed a solution, and I wanted something that was easy to use for both the office and field staff. Clearstory was the right solution for us."

Enter Clearstory
Jason implemented Clearstory throughout the company and saw immediate results in the amount of time it was saving them when processing Change Orders. He was no longer spending weekends in the office processing Change Orders.
"I have better work-life balance and more personal time, but not at the expense of the quality of our work."
– Jason Catalano, President, Catalano Construction
Before Clearstory, his team had a backlog of documentation to process. Now, they enter documentation into Clearstory so efficiently, they are ahead of their Change Order workload! Jason estimates that Clearstory saves them about fifteen hours of administrative time per week. At an average rate of $100/hour, that saves them $1,500 per week in administrative time.
"It's helping with our cash flow, and it's making it a lot easier to track costs."
